The head of the United Nations has urged wealthy countries to do more to help cut poverty or else the world would fail to meet anti-poverty goals by 2015.
Ban Ki-moon sounded in his words a "strong alarm" that the delivery on commitments made by member states had been deficient and fallen behind schedule. Ban said to make up the shortfall and meet the Millennium Development Goal of halving extreme poverty by the middle of the next decade, donor states would have to boost aid by 13 billion euros a year.
